The Importance of Water

THE IMPORTANCE OF WATER
As an Island nation surrounded by water, with significant rainfall and clean tap water, we often don’t give water a second thought. We’re lucky that we have clean running water in our homes available 24/7, it rains bucket loads and at the beginning of the year everywhere was flooded!
As we approach Water Saving Week, it’s an opportune moment to reflect on the importance of conserving this vital resource and the role each of us can play in reducing water consumption. By saving water we save energy, as it takes a substantial amount of energy to heat, pump and filter the water we use daily.
Increasing Water Demand
As the global population increases, there is an increasing water demand. We all need it to survive and alongside global warming, which is having a huge effect on the water cycle, there is less freshwater for reservoirs, rivers, and lakes. Even in the UK, there is expected to be an increase in our population of 8 million people by 2050. However, with the current usage per person, we wouldn’t be able to meet the demand across the country. Something must give, and we need to change how we use water, sometimes wastefully.
At Eco Ems, I’m passionate about sustainability and am committed to making a positive impact on the environment through our skincare and bathroom essentials. Our products are crafted in bar form rather than bottles, a choice that not only minimises plastic waste but also significantly reduces water usage throughout the production process.
Natural Ingredients and Concentrated Formulas
Unlike many conventional brands that rely heavily on water and chemicals, I prioritise natural ingredients and concentrated formulas. This means that water isn’t the primary ingredient listed on the labels, offering you products that are not only better for your skin but also better for the planet. By using less water in manufacturing, I contribute to water conservation efforts and lessen our environmental footprint.
Furthermore, the concentrated nature of our products ensures they last longer than traditional bottled alternatives, promoting sustainability and reducing waste. At Eco Ems Gifts, I believe in providing eco-friendly solutions that not only benefit our customers but also help protect our planet for future generations.
More Ways To Save Water
If you’d like to find out more ways to save water, you can send me a message on socials or pop me an email at [email protected].
A great place to start is with turning the taps off when brushing your teeth, shaving, and swapping to showers rather than baths every day. You can install water buts in the garden from your down pipes to collect rainwater for the garden. As well as keeping a wastewater jug for those glasses of water or to empty the dog bowls, so you can water your indoor plants. Even using the dishwasher rather than washing up by hand can help, lots of little things over the course of the year can soon mount up.
#watersavingweek
I hope I’ve given you a starting point and food for thought, making swaps in your skincare is a small step to water conservation across the whole home. You can grab your cleanser kits from the website, and I’ll also be doing a few videos on socials to show you some of our favourites at home.
Follow #watersavingweek during the 27th – 31st May to share your ideas and raise awareness.
