A LOW WASTE CHRISTMAS

A Low Waste ChristmasIf you’ve been following me for a little while you’ll know I often talk about my zero-waste lifestyle. Although I would love to tell you I no longer create any waste, this just isn’t possible, but I am continuously trying to find ways to reuse and reduce the amount of waste I create.

This is not only at home but also throughout the business. And this Christmas is no exception I have found several ways to be more resourceful. The reason I am doing this is twofold, I don’t want to create more rubbish that ends up in the landfill and I also want to reduce my spending this year.

I am always mindful of how much waste I create but at Christmas we all tend to get a bit carried away. Whether that’s one more gift or buying more food than we truly need. I really want to cut back this year and as a family we have opted to spend time together during the festive season rather than overindulge.

A LOW WASTE CHRISTMAS

THANK YOU FOR YOUR FEEDBACK

I will be sharing my top ten tips for a zero waste Christmas next week and I wanted to remind you exactly what I mean by zero waste. Zero waste is all to do with waste prevention, by either reusing or repurposing items that would otherwise get sent to landfill. For example, giving away an item you no longer use or selling it second hand.

Although extremely difficult I have adapted my day to day to be more mindful of everything I buy and use. Resulting in a more minimal and economical way of life. I will always try to encourage plastic free swaps and refills where possible, with any packaging being either compostable or recyclable.

And I realise this isn’t always possible due to the supply chain and way we live modern life. However, zero waste is a goal we can all strive towards and if you reduce your waste by 10% as a household. That’s 10% less being sent to landfill which is an amazing achievement. Never forget that one or two small swaps that we can commit to on a long-term basis are better than never making any at all.

I’ll be showing my zero waste Christmas swaps on my socials. If you haven’t already started to follow me look out for Eco Ems Gifts and I hope you have a happy Christmas.

Thank you for reading this weeks blog, A Low Waste Christmas.

Peace and love
